Family Advisory Committee
What is the FAC?
County Family and Children First Councils are required to have at least three family representatives who are not employed by an agency represented on council and whose children are or have received services from an agency represented on the council. Where possible, the number of family representatives should equal 20% of the council's membership.
Families are equal partners and are a critical part of the FCFC. Families should be properly oriented to FCFC and be provided with a clear role for serving as a mandated member. When seeking input on key decisions, a broad representation of families should be sought out and encouraged to provide feedback.
Our Family Advisory Committee sought and received donations from the Wayne County BAR Association and Wooster Kiwanis to bring in national speaker Tom Thelen in October 2025. He spoke at 3 schools- Edgewood, Waynedale and Northwestern during the day, and a training for families and the community in the evening. PRC Foundation donated a speaker gift and FCFC volunteer badges.
“We reached 1543 middle schoolers and 64 adults with a message of resiliency. Without a doubt, there was at least one child (and many more) that was pulled back from despair and for that – I count it as a success. Thank you to all of you for the effort and work that you put in to make it happen without a hitch! “ - R. Jackwood, Chair of Family Advisory Committee
